Immediately popular, it was reprinted on December 16, 1865, in the \u003cem\u003eCalifornian\u003c\/em\u003e and was on its way to becoming the story of the year.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThe story was reprinted by Twain in 1875 as \"The Jumping Frog,\" and this book is a reprint of the 1875 edition.
