About this item

by Susan Maynard (Author)

Irving Greenwood's diaries, written between 1894 and 1939, provide an intimate portrait of the life of Canterbury's last Shaker Brother. He wrote candidly about his experiences, his community, and his personal concerns. Irving introduced 20th century technology to Canterbury Shaker Village - telephones, automobiles, and electricity. His diaries allow us to enter his world and know him as a man of determination, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to his community.
