About this item

by Thomas Cornwall (Author)

The name "Queen Mary" conjures happy memories for ocean liner enthusiasts worldwide. Designed and built for the Cunard-White Star Line and destined to be the biggest and fastest passenger ship of her era, and now permanently docked as a hotel in Long Beach, California, her reputation for luxury is still envied today. In the first part of this nostalgic photographic record using rare images, this volume explores the early years of the Queen Mary, from model tests in a water tank to the completion of her empty hull, ready for launching.
