Rachel Dresbeck is a writer and editor who lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband, two children, and dog. Among other things, she is coauthor ofInsiders' Guide to Portland, Oregon, and Insiders' Guide to the Oregon Coast. The daughter of two historians, she has long meditated on the scope and variety of disasters and how they shape the human experience and test the will of people.
